I enthusiastically recommend Guitars from Spain for anyone looking to purchase a fine classical guitar.I’m an amateur player who took lessons over 25 years ago but then stopped playing regularly. I just retired and now have more time to devote to the guitar. I spend most of the year in Florida, so I wanted to leave my old guitar up north and find a second guitar for the many months I’m in Florida. I called Eduardo of Guitars from Spain, and he set up an appointment for me to visit as soon as he had a whole day free to show me some guitars. I arrived at 11 and left four hours later! Eduardo spent that whole time with me. First, he looked over my old guitar and played it, then discussed with me my goals and history with the guitar. He then had me try six different guitars, playing the same piece on each one, then repeating the process, then again. . . . I would tell him whether I found it comfortable to play and how I liked its sound. Eduardo would often ask me to expand my answer, i.e., which attributes of the sound did I like most, and which didn’t appeal to me. As we narrowed the choices, I again repeatedly played the smaller number. Eventually, we narrowed the number of guitars down to two. We then took a break and Eduardo explained something about the shops in Valencia where the guitars he was showing me were made. Then, I tried six different guitars and repeated the process! Eventually, I narrowed the choice down to two, which I then compared with the two from the first group. The entire process was challenging because initially I really liked all twelve guitars, but eventually, I could detect differences that were important to me. I then narrowed the options to two guitars. Throughout the day Eduardo exerted no pressure to choose one guitar over the other, and he never rushed me to decide. Near the end, I had a good idea which of the final two I preferred, but when Eduardo played pieces for me on both, there was no doubt in my mind. It turned out I had selected a Juan Hernández Romance Cedar with back and sides of Granadillo. I now play it 1-2 hours a day and couldn’t be happier with my choice. You won’t go wrong working with Eduardo. He is passionate about the guitar and is passionate about finding the instrument that will make playing the guitar a richer part of your life. David Wise.
