Pedro de Miguel

Thursday, 08 February 2024 by Eduardo M
February 8, 2024
I recently visited Mexico City and checked my 1996 Pedro de Miguel Negra Primera in my baggage. Although my case was very sturdy (you can stand on it), and I have done this at least 34 times since the early 90s, it must have taken a fall of 6 feet or more. The case was not damaged, except for one clip and hinge being compromised; however, from impact inside the case, the guitar face was separated from the upper and lower shoulders at the butt, and the two shoulders were opened at the seam of the butt. I have a claim with Delta. A professional instrument insurance company has now paid for repairs. My guy in NJ says he can put it all back together. I began looking online for a Negra primera to use for a recording I have been working on while still in Mexico.
I found  Guitars from Spain, Eduardo who had a 2007 Pedro de Miguel Negra Primera, Mint Condition, for sale on consignment. The client accepted my offer, and Eduardo went out of his way to find the quickest and most economical shipping from FL to NY.
The guitar came with a very nice foam case from Pedro de Miguel, but Eduardo always includes a humidifier, velvet bag protector for the box, cleaning cloth, and strings.
It was very well packed in a box about 43-44 inches tall. I have sold some guitars and shipped them myself. You can usually only purchase 50-inch height guitar boxes, which increases the expense.
The availability of such a similar guitar to my own was a life-saver. When I get the damaged Pedro de Miguel back, I will have the problem of deciding which to keep.
I played the new guitar at a juerga/party over the weekend and everyone was impressed with the sound. Basilio Georges/ Flamenco Latino

Vicente Carrillo Alegrias Blanca

Instruments for the guitar aficionado and an experience to match!
Eduardo has a real passion for the instruments that he selects and he understands them and the luthiers that make them very deeply. I have purchased jazz guitars from other fine guitar dealers but no one ever gave me the confidence to buy like Eduardo at GFS. I was treated to a buying experience that involved playing several guitars, listening to them be played, and discussing the fine details of each one before I was able to select the perfect instrument. It was like a wine tasting that you can drive home from. The Vicente Carrillo Allegrias Blanca was my choice and it was absolutely the right one! What a guitar! Spain is still leading the world in guitar building. I would have paid a lot more for a guitar with that sound and playability. If you are serious about guitar, you need a Spanish guitar. If you need a Spanish guitar, you need to talk to Eduardo. Don’t waste your time anywhere else! Best buying experience yet and I have had many. Ryan D.

Vicente Carrillo Alegrias Blanca

Thursday, 19 October 2023 by Eduardo M
October 19, 2023
“As I already purchased a professional level Vicente Carrillo 1a Negra Flamenco guitar from “Guitars from Spain”, I realized that I also wanted a Blanca. After a bit of research, I have decided to go with the Vicente Carrillo “Alegrias” Blanca. Boy, am I happy I did! This guitar punches way above its weight. Suffice it to say that it sounds better than some of the Conde Media Luna guitars that I owned or played. Not to mention, Vicente’s “Alegrias” is more comfortable to play, due to its regular 650 mm scale. Thank you again, Eduardo and “Guitars from Spain”! Bogdan Tudor” Cheers, Bogdan

Prudencio Pao Ferro Profesional

Choosing a guitar can be a daunting task. It requires weighing multiple aspects, knowledge, and guidance, as well as trying out the instrument itself. After a series of attempts at several stores, I couldn’t find a guitar that would “speak to me”, until I found out about GFS and met Eduardo Macadar.
Suffice it to say, GFS is not a store, but something so much better. If there’s something similar to being at a luthier’s workshop, it’s got to be this. Eduardo is not a simple middleman, but rather, a living bond between you and the makers of your next guitar. Whether you feel like a guitar guru or someone who doesn’t even know where to start, I highly encourage you to look for your instrument here.
My experience at GFS was no mere shopping. It ended up transcending the purchase of my guitar and becoming an excellent opportunity to learn, appreciate, and discuss the beauty of what the birth and life of such an instrument encompasses. I’m grateful I met Eduardo, whom I really appreciate and consider a good friend. Julio Zepeda

Juan Hernandez Romance Cedar

Sunday, 24 September 2023 by Eduardo M
September 24, 2023

I enthusiastically recommend Guitars from Spain for anyone looking to purchase a fine classical guitar.I’m an amateur player who took lessons over 25 years ago but then stopped playing regularly. I just retired and now have more time to devote to the guitar. I spend most of the year in Florida, so I wanted to leave my old guitar up north and find a second guitar for the many months I’m in Florida. I called Eduardo of Guitars from Spain, and he set up an appointment for me to visit as soon as he had a whole day free to show me some guitars. I arrived at 11 and left four hours later! Eduardo spent that whole time with me. First, he looked over my old guitar and played it, then discussed with me my goals and history with the guitar. He then had me try six different guitars, playing the same piece on each one, then repeating the process, then again. . . . I would tell him whether I found it comfortable to play and how I liked its sound. Eduardo would often ask me to expand my answer, i.e., which attributes of the sound did I like most, and which didn’t appeal to me. As we narrowed the choices, I again repeatedly played the smaller number. Eventually, we narrowed the number of guitars down to two. We then took a break and Eduardo explained something about the shops in Valencia where the guitars he was showing me were made. Then, I tried six different guitars and repeated the process! Eventually, I narrowed the choice down to two, which I then compared with the two from the first group. The entire process was challenging because initially I really liked all twelve guitars, but eventually, I could detect differences that were important to me. I then narrowed the options to two guitars. Throughout the day Eduardo exerted no pressure to choose one guitar over the other, and he never rushed me to decide. Near the end, I had a good idea which of the final two I preferred, but when Eduardo played pieces for me on both, there was no doubt in my mind. It turned out I had selected a Juan Hernández Romance Cedar with back and sides of Granadillo. I now play it 1-2 hours a day and couldn’t be happier with my choice. You won’t go wrong working with Eduardo. He is passionate about the guitar and is passionate about finding the instrument that will make playing the guitar a richer part of your life. David Wise.

Additional

Hi Eduardo, I appreciate it even more now that I have been playing my old guitar for a couple of weeks in Chicago.  Although I played my  Juan Hernandez Romance for only a couple of weeks before leaving Naples, I remember its feel and sound so well that I find my old guitar hard to play and continually think that it is out of tune, when it’s not.  Perhaps it’s the rich overtones of my new guitar that are already stuck in my memory and I can’t help but compare the sound of my old guitar with my new standard. I return to Naples shortly and look forward to resuming play with my Hernandez. Thank you again David Wise

Juan Hernandez Romance spruce

We visited Guitars from Spain a few weeks ago to buy a guitar for our son who has been playing for quite a few years.
Eduardo was a wonderful host and really helped us in making the best possible decision. He provided us with a lot of information on the built techniques of the guitar, and the quality of the materials, and above all had our son try multiple times instruments that he felt more comfortable with. We were under no pressure, Eduardo was simply there to showcase his wonderful selection and make you feel like you were in the laboratory in Spain with the makers of these beautiful instruments. We ended up choosing an amazing Juan Hernandez Concierto guitar, although Eduardo also suggested some cheaper but equally impressive guitars as alternatives.
Needless to say, we are extremely happy not only with the choice of instrument but even more with the fact that we got it at Guitars from Spain. Spending time with Eduardo was so pleasant and educational and we left his studio with the full conviction that we had chosen a beautiful instrument for our son. Gracias Eduardo !!

Esteve Alegrias Flamenca Negra

Monday, 11 September 2023 by Eduardo M
September 11, 2023
“I recently purchased a Flamenco guitar from Eduardo at GuitarsFromSpain.com. I have owned and played many different guitars over the years, but this was to be my first ever try at Flamenco. I owned a nylon string classical for a few months many years ago, but since then I’ve only played steel string guitars. The issues for me were a general lack of knowledge about Flamenco guitars and the lack of ability to see and play the various guitars that are out there. After all, you don’t find these guitars at your typical music store. Fortunately for me I happened to be reasonably close to Eduardo’s business and was able to pay him a visit. He was very nice and knowledgeable about Flamenco and the various guitars and walked me through everything ranging from construction differences, woods, etc. He then had me try out several guitars, offered his comments, and answered my questions as we went from guitar to guitar. I ultimately selected an Esteve model and am very pleased with it. I highly recommend Eduardo and GuitarsFromSpain.com. Now I just need to work on my Flamenco skills.”J.D Jupiter FL
