“Many years ago I had played jazz and folk guitar for a long time, taking jazz lessons for over 7 years, but when I was completing my dissertation I had to stop the guitar and had not touched one for over 2 decades.  I went online to find a guitar center near me.
I did not want to purchase an unknown guitar online without holding it, feeling it, and getting a sense of the quality and tone. Before meeting Eduardo at Guitars From Spain I had visited a different guitar shop, received no service, and had a judgemental attitude that I should choose a small guitar (even though I knew the sound quality would be lessened) because of my body type. Reluctantly, they finally let me “touch” the small guitar and with even more resistance they finally let me hold one of their larger guitars. They explained nothing about the quality of their guitars, whether they were real cedar or laminated fake wood. I would not trust their judgment on what type of guitar I should buy.

When I arrived in his home -studio he had 5 guitars ready for me to touch, play and get a feel for.  I knew immediately which one felt perfect for me.  Eduardo sat with me and explained carefully the different qualities of guitars and how they are made.  He showed me a video of a factory in Spain where my guitar was hand-crafted. My experience with Guitars From Spain was excellent. Not only is the owner, Eduardo, very knowledgeable about guitars, but he is so enthusiastic about finding great instruments that it made the whole process a lot of fun. You can tell he is a musician with a passion for guitars (the sound, the wood, the maintenance), and that is always a big selling point for me. I happened to contact Eduardo about a flamenco guitar on his site right around the time he was leaving for Spain to procure some additional guitars. The one on his site had been sold, but he promised to find me another equally beautiful one while he was away. What he found surpassed my expectations. He even sent me videos from the workshop of the guitar maker (Prudencio Saez) in Spain and pictures of what he had found for me.

When the guitar finally arrived in the U.S., he made sure it had been properly set up, and he shipped it to me with a humidifier, extra strings, and a velvet cover to protect the body of the guitar. The box arrived a little dented, and I was worried before opening it, but I should have known he had sent me the perfect case as well. The guitar was completely protected and I absolutely love it. Considering the costs of shipping from Spain, plus Customs fees, plus all the extras (the set-up, a fantastic case, extra strings, a humidifier, and the cover), not to mention that Eduardo personally selects the guitars he sells and checks them thoroughly before shipping them to his customers, the prices are more than fair.

The best part is that I don’t feel like I have a mass-produced, cookie-cutter guitar, but something much more special and unique, and something that actually belongs to the tradition behind the Spanish music I’m playing.
