Pedro de Miguel

Pedro de Miguel

I recently visited Mexico City and checked my 1996 Pedro de Miguel Negra Primera in my baggage. Although my case was very sturdy (you can stand on it), and I have done this at least 34 times since the early 90s, it must have taken a fall of 6 feet or more. The case was not damaged, except for one clip and hinge being compromised; however, from impact inside the case, the guitar face was separated from the upper and lower shoulders at the butt, and the two shoulders were opened at the seam of the butt. I have a claim with Delta. A professional instrument insurance company has now paid for repairs. My guy in NJ says he can put it all back together. I began looking online for a Negra primera to use for a recording I have been working on while still in Mexico.
I found  Guitars from Spain, Eduardo who had a 2007 Pedro de Miguel Negra Primera, Mint Condition, for sale on consignment. The client accepted my offer, and Eduardo went out of his way to find the quickest and most economical shipping from FL to NY.
The guitar came with a very nice foam case from Pedro de Miguel, but Eduardo always includes a humidifier, velvet bag protector for the box, cleaning cloth, and strings.
It was very well packed in a box about 43-44 inches tall. I have sold some guitars and shipped them myself. You can usually only purchase 50-inch height guitar boxes, which increases the expense.
The availability of such a similar guitar to my own was a life-saver. When I get the damaged Pedro de Miguel back, I will have the problem of deciding which to keep.
I played the new guitar at a juerga/party over the weekend and everyone was impressed with the sound. Basilio Georges/ Flamenco Latino
