Milagro JP1+C

Milagro JP1+C

Got a new job in Boca Raton, FL.  I love guitars and was exploring local music shops when I found “Guitars From Spain” on the web and called just for local knowledge.

Well, this guy Eduardo, answered and we had a totally ‘no pressure’ chat about guitars.  He asked:  How are you?  What do you play?  What do you like?  He said:  I like Classical and Flamenco guitars,  I have some in stock you might want to see …here’s my phone number and address, come on by if you like…..bye.

I made an appointment and here’s this normal guy, who happens to love guitars, music, and fishing!  He started bringing out new guitars after new guitars, “OK, now look at this one…play one note… hear it ring?…see this one?….smell in the soundhole…can you smell the cedar?….look at the grain in this wood….this body is narrower,  hear the difference in the bass?  this is the attack you want in flamenco…  Now,  I’ve had some trauma to my left (neck) hand and Eduardo was receptive to my concerns.  (I consider my guitar ability as an amateur even though I’ve been playing 50 yrs.)

Five or six guitars later he showed me a Neris Gonzalez Milagro Cedar top, Rosewood back, and sides-fan fretted beauty.  The thing was not only gorgeous to look at and meticulously finished but the high notes rang like a bell and the low notes spoke like a cannon.  Love at first sound.  She went home with me.

Three lessons later usually towards the end of one of Eduardo’s gentle, patient, and profound lessons he says,  “can I play your guitar for a moment?”  Of course, I said,  and I pass him the instrument.  Eduardo gets LOST simply listening to himself effortlessly playing Leo Brouwer’s “A Day in November”.   I say, “Eduardo, when are you going to teach me that?”……and he answers ……“not yet”.  Thank you for helping me getting an amazing guitar.
